Our MD Claire Burdett hosts a monthly radio show called Friday Social (7-9pm) on local radio station, Kennet Radio. This month’s show is focusing on the local area of West Berkshire itself. The show will look at the area’s amazing history and talk to some of the key Newbury West Berkshire brands about their history in the area, their achievements, plans, and how they are helping West Berkshire grow and thrive.
Joining Claire in the studio will be Patricia Marks, CEO of The Newbury and District Agriculture Society (NADAS), who organise the iconic Royal County of Berkshire Show every September, amongst many other activities.
Patricia is also a Stakeholder Member of Newbury West Berkshire, an Economic Development Company, which was set up in 2018 to promote Newbury and West Berkshire as the go-to destination for organisations, businesses, families and individuals seeking the very best blend in work, heritage, culture and life.
We will also be talking to the Newbury West Berkshire EDC Chair David Bruce, as well as discussing some of the iconic local brands he is involved with, including West Berkshire Brewery, The Bruce Trust, and – one of West Berkshire’s best kept secrets – Alder Ridge Vineyard.
Claire will also be joined by Garden Designer Fran Lawton, who will be talking about Newbury in Bloom (you might have noticed her judging gardens over the last month) and Britain in Bloom, which Newbury has entered for the first time this year.
She will also be speaking to Andy Murrill at The Newbury Weekly News about the paper being awarded ‘best weekly newspaper in the UK‘ at the Regional Press Awards this year as well as being an EDC stakeholder; Ashley Morris, GM of the Newbury Spring Festival; Heidi Bird, Outreach Director at The Watermill Theatre and Jonathan Pratt, the MD of Dreweatts.
