This evening at 8pm on #FridaySocial on Kennet Radio we are going to be looking at #MoreMusic and recent music trends on social media.
September has been an a very busy month for music-related commentary on social media. This has been fuelled in part by Radio One’s daily live lounges, which have been trending every day, as well as the auditions for X factor 2014, which has already started causing a stir online, plus Apple adding U2’s new album to every iTunes account and the resulting social media uproar when people couldn’t remove it.
In addition, as one commentator on Twitter tweeted this week, “The average person listens to 25 songs every day,” and went on to say it wasn’t enough. It does seem low when we have greater access to music than ever before, so what does that mean for the music industry looking forward? Is the music industry still on an upwards trend or something that is increasingly a side aspect to our lives? What impact has social media had on music [hint = massive]?
Joining us in the Kennet Radio Studio tonight we have actor and musician Adam Kotz, who is also the Chairman of ACE space, a community space in Newbury that is renown for its Open Mic evenings and live music gigs. ACE space has just undergone a revamp, so we will be talking about that as well, and how aspiring musicians can become part of the scene.
We will be exploring what is available to local people wanting to break into the music industry and the routes successful musicians took to achieve their dreams, whether that was traditional routes or via social media.
We may even have some live music from up and coming musician Kevan Sahai, who’s played at the Monument and the Newbury this year, and is popping into the studio to share his experiences of breaking into the industry.Kevan Sahai singing live on FridaySocial on Kennet Radio
If you missed it or want to hear it again, and we completely understand that, it was VERY good hearing Kevan play live, you can do so here – FridaySocial:MoreMusic
