Social Media Campaigns
Social media campaigns can be a very effective way of connecting with your audience. Depending on what you are selling or promoting, and to whom, you can go very broad or be incredibly focused and specific.
A social media campaign can be platform specific. For example you might want to reach a specific lifestyle following on Instagram or Pinterest, or maybe become an influencer on YouTube. Alternatively you may be focused on demographics, say targeting a local audience on Facebook or promoting a brand to teens on Snapchat.
Alternatively the most effective campaign for your brand might be one that goes across platforms. If you are a B to B brand, for example, you might look at using a combination of LinkedIn, YouTube and Twitter to reach your audience.
A social media campaign might also be focused on a particular result. This can be anything from growth hacking to build an audience, a hashtag campaign around an event or launch, or outreach to help leverage your fanbase to support your brand.
Other considerations would be whether you want it to enhance your SEO or not. It might be a purely social media-focused campaign or something you are hoping drives offline coverage (say in the newspapers or mainstream media). If it needs to get people to click through to a website to drive sales then it will need other elements in place, such as landing pages.
Another factor is how you want to measure it. Dark social is definitely a major element now in any campaign, and while it doesn’t stop you achieving your goals, it does hamper real time measurement.
